It is a project based comprehensive training and doing curriculum of what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Through the Voinovich School the State of Ohio funded ESP program provides pre-seed funding as well as substantial operational assistance (patent attorneys, executive recruiters, marketing and business plans as well as consulting) to start-up and expansion efforts in the region. The total grant includes $5 million for pre-seed and seed funding as well as $10 million for operational assistance.

The VITAL lab is currently working with a $1.7 million NSF grant to develop interactive games to teach science and math to middle school students as well as projects the Smithsonian, National Defense University and financial institutions.

GRID Lab:The GRID Lab is currently transitioning from their storefront game arcade to a research focused effort. One of the main areas of focus will be annual capstone student projects . Two projects were completed last year both of which were presented at SigGraph with very positive reviews.The first, Chromatica is a game that teaches students about colors.

This game is a free download and is appropriate for elementary through adult. Information on the web site about the team and the process of creating the game provides an excellent case study of the effort and organization required for such a project and is a wealth of lessons learned.
