Interactive Digital Technology (IDT) actually represents a family of related technologies which can be applied to a variety of commercial and industrial applications.  While originally identified primarily with the development of video games, IDT involves the use of digital media to simulate real world experiences or activities in applications which support real-time interaction with the user.  The meteoric expansion of the gaming industry, even in difficult economic times has led to literally thousands of creative applications of the technology to a wide variety of business processes producing endless opportunities for new business ventures.  By utilizing virtual worlds created in cyber space, developers can design highly interactive and engaging training that responds to each individual, simulates the use of expensive or easily damaged equipment, and even replicates entire facilities, allowing trainees to fully and safely explore and become familiar with how critical processes work in reality.  By using simulations to prototype new products, businesses can develop, test, and gain customer feedback on products, reducing both the cost and development time that would otherwise be required.  The application of IDT in communications underlies the development of WEB 2.0 and supports social networking and customer interaction in ways that dramatically impact our ability to reach potential customers and new markets.

A unique advantage to this industry is that its infrastructure requirements are few.  A skilled workforce and access to high-speed internet are the basic requirements to work in IDT.
